Electrical tape, handwoven vinyl tarp, glass, rubber bands
Black and white stripes covering the walls transforms the space and creates a visual noise, like a humming and vibrating sensation to the eyes. Enveloped by the space, the glass absorbs and distorts the surrounding environment. The stripes appear to be imprinted in the glass, just as they are imprinted in one’s periphery. When immersed in the space, the viewer feels physiological effects from the onslaught of visual pulsation and reverberation. Reminiscent of razzle dazzle camouflage, this optical phenomenon alludes to the use of glaring patterns that enable hiding in plain sight.
