clean slate

Stemming from my interest in the blurring of private and public boundaries, I question what it means to give a part of one’s self away. During the summer 2016 I entered a transitional phase between finishing graduate school at VCU and moving to a new location. For 5x5, I brought ALL of my possessions from my apartment and studio to 1708 Gallery to accomplish the task of sorting and minimizing what I owned down to what was essential. 1708 acted as a platform to engage the public in witnessing my sort and dispersing the items I chose not to keep. Visitors were welcome to take from designated piles of free art, art supplies, and other sentiments.
